Happy Friday loves! I felt like it was time for a life update, but before you get too excited; we didn’t buy a house.
For those of you who don’t know, we’ve been house hunting for about a month now. It’s been a really fun and exciting season in our life. Recently though, we’ve hit a few extra bumps in the road. We knew our lease was coming up at the end of August, but weren’t sweating it too much. We thought we’d probably have to find some apartments that rent month to month, or pray really hard that we found a house in time.
I finally got around to getting our anniversary camping trip on the blog! Summer has flown by so quickly and so much has happened since just a few weeks ago.
We had the best time celebrating our one year anniversary! There was just something about the wild beauty of the desert and the canyon walls that held the lake. Sleeping under the stars and exploring the beauty that surrounded us reminded me why I fell in love with Wallace in the first place. There is something truly breathtaking about being in nature. Sharing these moments with my husband has become one of my favorite pass times.
We road bikes, floated in the lake, cooked yummy food and just enjoyed the stillness of life for a moment. This summer has been filled with moments of excitement and fun, but also moments of business and overwhelming circumstances. I’ve found myself too often caught up in feelings of stress and disappointment, when life becomes too busy, and expectations aren’t met.
I can’t believe that July is almost gone! The summer is flying by, but that hasn’t kept me from gathering another list of my current favorites. I’m really excited about some of the items on this list and hope that you will be too! This month’s current favorites focus on products to keep your home stylish and your body feeling good! Be sure to check out my discount code at the end of this post to save some money on one of these awesome products!
July 16th was our one year anniversary! A post about our mini anniversary trip will be coming to the blog soon, but until then, here are a few things that have made this first year of marriage the best.
Marriage is my favorite. I remember being engaged and trying to make it through that last year of school before graduation and the wedding. Wallace was driving back and forth between work at the coast and being with me. When asked by friends what we were looking forward to the most, we said we couldn’t wait to just be together. To not have to say goodbye at night, and to wake up to each other in the morning; that’s what we wanted most.
Wallace and I are getting ready to celebrate our first anniversary this weekend! Wallace wasn’t able to take leave for our actual anniversary, but we plan to do a little roadtrip and camping getaway at the Wallowas at the end of the summer. This weekend we’ll see where the wind takes us and celebrate close to home. Either way, we couldn’t be more excited! This summer has already been a busy one, so we’re definitely looking forward to getting away and celebrating how awesome this first year of marriage has been!
There’s something about going on a trip that makes for the perfect excuse to go shopping. I’ve stocked up on a few summer items that will be perfect for our little roadtrip and camping getaway. I shopped some major sales at Nordstrom and Macy’s and found some things that I absolutely love! Paired with some classic pieces I already own, I think I’m set to enjoy our first anniversary trip!
Some Fourth of July Thoughts
I hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July! Mine was a low-key day spent with my family. Wallace being on duty was the only part of the day that wasn’t perfect. We kept things simple this year and celebrated with a family dinner and fireworks. Later in the evening some of us snuck off to watch a fireworks show. Love me some good food and good people to hang with!
The Fourth of July has always been a favorite of mine, but since dating Wallace, it’s become a holiday that sits closer to home. I have such a deeper appreciation for the men and women who serve our country now that I have a more personal experience with the military.
I’m not going to lie. This post is completely inspired by BHLDN. In my last post I gave you some ideas for gifts to give your parents on your wedding day. The majority of those gifts were from BHLDN. While on their site, I found about a million things I wanted to buy and thus, this post was created.
When I was planning my wedding, I remember the hardest part was staying on budget. There were plenty of things I wanted to buy for myself or the wedding, but couldn’t. So, I had to be picky with the things I purchased. I only bought things that I really truly loved and could see myself using again.
A year ago I was getting ready to be married. We were finishing up last minute details, and waiting in excitement for that special day to get here. There are so many little things you don’t think of when planning a wedding. Some are more important than others, and some might be more important to you than they are for other brides.
For me, it was important that I find the perfect gifts for my parents.
One of my dear friends does these REAL. LIFE. posts on Instagram. She has a way of creating beautiful images for social media and pairing them with witty and honest captions about her life that start with, REAL. LIFE. IS. They always have me laughing, because the things she shares are so true and relatable (and she’s just stinking hilarious).
I can’t believe that it’s already June! My heart has been dreaming of all the summer fun Wallace and I have planned. Camping, hiking, fishing! And, we’re celebrating our one year anniversary in July. There is just so much to look forward to.
Wallace only gets two weekends off a month, so that means we really have to make those days off count! On the days that he’s not home, I’m planning on getting some reading in and soaking up all the sun that I can! I’ve always loved summer. I love all the sunshine, tan skin, and the smell of sunscreen and chlorine. I love summer road trips and being outside as much as possible.
